OPPO announces a partnership with audio streaming platform Spotify
Smartphone manufacturer, OPPO has announced a partnership with audio streaming platform Spotify to create an all-new easy and customizable music experience through its latest Operating System (OS), ColorOS 13.
This will enable Kenyans using the ColorOS 13 to enjoy listening to their music, audio books and podcasts with ease and convenient control on their OPPO devices home screen, with the new smart features that have been integrated into Spotify.
Commenting on the partnership, Head of OPPO Software Product Gary Chen noted that the move represents a new exploration into the possibilities of the operating systems of smartphones.
“Through smart, convenient and human-centric features developed with our partners, we are bringing a more intelligent and efficient operating system to users, enabling them to spend more time enjoying music and other most-loved features on the OPPO smartphones,” said Chen.
Among the features OPPO users in Kenya will enjoy as a result of the pact are Smart Always-On-Display (AOD) which enables listeners to know the content that is playing on their Spotify App by looking at the AOD and double-clicking on the music control panel without the need of waking up their devices.
Moreover, the AOD integration will also allow the users to access and control the playback of their favourite audio content from the app and content recommendations without unlocking their phones.
The ColorOS 13 also comes with a new Shelf feature with an in-built Spotify Card containing Spotify content recommendations through which Kenyan users can access their favourite music.
The OS has also embedded a Spotify widget onto the home screen to enable quick and easy access to the Spotify App.
In addition to that, the ColorOS 13 Clock App has been integrated into the phone’s alarm to allow users to wake up every morning to their favorite Spotify tracks, playlists and even podcasts.

ColorOS 13 is OPPO’s latest Android-based operating system, an OS designed for simplicity and comfort with a unique Aquamorphic design.
The OS has innovative and intelligent features like Multi-Screen Connect, Meeting Assistant, Smart AOD and Home Screen Management.
