SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost airline, announced the launch of direct flights to Nairobi, Kenya, starting February 2025. This marks Nairobi as SalamAir’s newest destination in Africa, offering affordable and convenient travel options for passengers.
The airline will operate two weekly flights between Muscat and Nairobi, connecting travelers to Oman and other popular destinations in Asia and beyond. SalamAir aims to boost tourism and trade between the Middle East and East Africa through this new route.
Adrian Hamilton-Manns, SalamAir’s CEO, shared his excitement about the expansion, stating:
“Adding Nairobi to our growing network is a major milestone for us.Nairobi is a hub for international travelers and a center for business, technology, and education.
This route strengthens the connection between East Africa and our destinations in India, Thailand, Central Asia, and more all at very affordable fares.”
SalamAir’s “Lite” fare for the Nairobi route starts at just 129.9 USD, making it up to 70% cheaper than fares offered by other airlines. This aligns with the airline’s commitment to providing low-cost travel options.
The Nairobi-Muscat route also revives a connection previously operated by Oman Air, which was suspended in 2020. SalamAir already serves Cairo, Egypt, and continues to expand its network in Africa as part of its strategic growth plan.
With Nairobi’s vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and thriving economy, SalamAir’s entry into the market is set to make travel more accessible for passengers while enhancing ties between the two regions.
