Mount Kenya University(MKU) has officialy unveiled Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre at Thika
Main Campus. The vision of the Centre is to be a Global destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions.
The launch which was officiated by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr.Fred Matiang’i will be in honour of the Former 3rd President of Kenya Mwai Kibaki. In his speech Interior CS,Dr.Matiangi thanked and congratulated the Learning Institution(MKU)for such a noble idea of the Convention Centre ”to nurture common feelings of unity sharing and togetherness as public good”
He urged Kenyan to utilise the facility for their own benefits and community at large.
He added that he supports the former President’s Mwai Kibaki’s support for the youth to get good education and employment having graduated from Makerere University, Uganda.The Convention Centre will be a hub for job creation as it offers wide entrepreneurship conferences where the youths of various communities will converge and share ideas on wealth creation and available job markets and opportunities.
Dr Matiang’i praised the MKU leadership on bringing on board the County Government and built the Thika Level 5 Hospital to bring the health sector near to the people.
”The construction of Thika Level 5 Hospital’s General Kago Funeral Home by MKU which was upgraded from 24-body capacity to 100 body capacity,is a community project that has a trendemous impact,”Added Dr.Mataiang’i.
In his welcoming Speech The Chairman and Founder MKU,Prof Simon Gicharu thanked the entire MKU Fraternity for the effortless and tireless job to make the facility a success
‘‘The Board of Directors as well as the entire Mount Kenya University(MKU)fraternity are honoured to have MKU’s ultra -modern convention facility named Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre”Said Prof.Gicharu.He added that the 2000-seater facility wiil be used to support educational and research activitiesfor many generations.
He added that the facility is named after Mwai Kibaki as he offered the Charter to the University and immense contributions in his education policies
