Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has today raided an illegal liquor manufacturing plant and seized goods worth Ksh. 40 Million. The unlicensed brewer, based in Thika town is suspected to have been producing counterfeit liquor and evadingpayment of millions in taxes.
KRA officers in collaboration with the Multiagency team including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) conducted a sting operation at warehouse this morning following a tip-off on the illegal activities.During the operation, the Authority recovered 33 drums of ethanol worth Ksh. 16 Million, 100-10 litres boxes of Fiesta Special Ice Vodka worth Ksh.2 Million, 5000 pieces of counterfeit stamps worth Ksh. 10 Million, 26 boxes containing 50 pieces-100ml hand sanitizers, receipt books among other items.
