- Nairobi is a Chicken Burger City: Glovo Data Reveals
What does Nairobi reach for when the working week is finally over? Increasingly, the answer is a burger.
From what Nairobians are eating and where they are ordering from, to the deals, new creations and Friday-night cravings driving demand.
In the first half of 2026, chicken burgers accounted for 83.15% of burger orders, making Nairobi decidedly a chicken-burger city.
Beef burgers followed at 15.36%, while veggie and paneer options accounted for 1.50%.
And while the burger market continues to be dominated by familiar quick-service restaurant favorites,Nairobi’s appetite is expanding.
Established players such as KFC,Chicken Inn and Galito’s continue to account for most burger deliveries,
while emerging gourmet brands such as Drip Burgers are gaining ground, signaling growing curiosity for more specialized burger experiences.
One of the biggest takeaways from the data is that Nairobi’s burger lovers are looking for value,generous portions and a good deal.
The most-ordered burger product in the first half of 2026 was Galito’s Juicy Value Burgers Deal.Its Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer sold more than any other burger product during the period,highlighting just how powerful value-led offers remain for Kenyan consumers.
One of the years more unconventional creations,Chicken Inn’s Donut Chicken Burger became the most-ordered individual burger on Glovo in May 2026.
The product, which replaced the traditional burger bun with a donut,showed that alongside their familiar
favourites, consumers are willing to try something different when brands give them a compelling reason to.
Friday at 8:00 PM is the busiest burger-ordering hour in Kenya,perfectly capturing the role burgers play in the city’s end-of-week lifestyle.
Whether it is dinner with friends, a takeaway after work, a movie-night meal or a late-night indulgence, Nairobi’s burger scene is evolving but one thing remains clear:when Friday evening rolls around, the city knows exactly what it
wants.
Kilimani and Westlands emerge as the country’s biggest burger-ordering neighborhoods,reflecting the area’s mix of offices,restaurants and vibrant after-hours dining culture.
“What is interesting about this data is that it gives us a window into everyday Nairobi life. We
can see the importance of value,but we can also see consumers becoming more adventurous and willing to try something new.
Even the Friday 8pm peak tells a story of how food delivery is increasingly connected to the moments when people are relaxing,socialising or treating themselves at the end of the week,”said Caroline Mutuku, County Managing Director,Glovo Kenya.
The release comes at a time when Glovo is partnering with Eat Out Kenya for this year’s Nairobi Burger Week as a delivery partner.
The data points to a burger culture that is evolving beyond traditional fast food,with burgers increasingly becoming part of how Nairobi eats,socializes and unwinds.
Ordering data can increasingly reveal not just what is popular, but how tastes, occasions and expectations are changing, from the growing importance of affordability to consumers willingness to discover new restaurants and experiment with
unexpected flavours.
The Nairobi Burger Week 2026,will celebrate the growing burger culture,bringing together the brands,flavors and experiences that continue to shape how Kenya enjoys one of the worlds favorite comfort foods.
