Car and General trading Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital for the provision of free eye camps in rural areas across the country.The objective of the programme is to eradicate preventable blindness and restore vision.
The MOU which was signed by Vijay Gidoomal the CEO of Car and General Trading Limited and Dr.Manilal Dodhia the Chairman,Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital will include support for four eye camps in the course of the year.
During the camps screening will be carried out by ophthalmic specialists and nurses from Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital and the local health facilities.Eye medications will be dispensed and reading glasses donated. Those who require specialized examination and surgery will be referred to the SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho.
Speaking at the function, Vijay Gidoomal said, “Many families in the rural areas have been affected by the social and financial hardships associated with blindness.We believe that free eye camps are a great opportunity to team up with local and religious leaders to help create awareness in communities on preventable blindness, eye care and restoration of vision.”
