Collins Sambu, popularly known as Mista C, has been crowned the winner of the first-ever Kenyan edi?on of Red Bull Turn It Up, following a high energy night that brought together some of Kenya’s leading DJs and a packed crowd at COVO Hurlingham in Nairobi on Saturday 3rd October.

The compe??on saw four DJs- Mista C, Sir M,DJ Abby Muthoka and DJ Itendera- go head-to head in a series of one-on-one baPles, with each compe?tor challenged to respond to surprise themes revealed just moments before they took to the decks.
With no ?me to prepare a set in advance, the DJs had to rely on their musical knowledge, crea?vity, versa?lity and ability to read the room, selec?ng tracks and building mixes that responded to each challenge while keeping the crowd engaged.
The audience played a central role, with their energy and response helping determine who advanced through the baPles and ul?mately claimed the ?tle.
ATer making his way through the compe??on,Mista C emerged as the inaugural Kenyan winner of Red Bull Turn It Up, earning the dis?nc?on of taking the first ?tle in the compe??on’s Kenyan chapter.
You don’t know what theme is coming, you can’t prepare a set,and you have to trust your music knowledge, crea/vity and ability to connect with the crowd.

The Kenyan edi?on brought this format to a local audience, giving par?cipa?ng DJs a plaVorm to showcase different aspects of their craT — from track selec?on and crea?vity to versa?lity and crowd engagement.
The event also highlighted the growing influence of DJs within Kenya’s music and entertainment culture, bringing together fans and members of the music community for a night centred on the art of DJing.
Hosted by Claudia Naisabwa, the event created an energe?c atmosphere as the four DJs baPled through the compe??on, with DJ Lyta overseeing the musical side of the experience.
