Federal Express Corporation, the world’s largest express transportation company, has partnered with Feed the Children to launch the Clean Futures Alliance in Kenya, an initiative aimed at improving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) outcomes among children in Kajiado County.
The initiative, implemented under the FedEx Cares programme, will benefit 2,400 school-aged children and adolescents in Bisil through the distribution of personal hygiene kits and hygiene education sessions designed to promote healthier habits and improve overall well-being.
The programme has already included WASH education sessions at Inkati and Noontoto primary schools, where students were equipped with knowledge on everyday hygiene practices.
FedEx team members also participated in preparing and distributing hygiene kits as part of the company’s community engagement efforts.
“At FedEx, our purpose goes beyond moving packages – it is about connecting people and communities to the resources they need to thrive,” said Nelson Teixeira, managing director, Operations, Sub-Saharan Africa at FedEx.
He said the Clean Futures Alliance reflects the company’s commitment to supporting children and families in Kenya while creating meaningful impact in the communities where it operates.
Feed the Children president and CEO Emily Callahan said access to hygiene plays an important role in children’s health, confidence and ability to remain engaged in school.
“Our continued collaboration with FedEx is helping expand community-driven solutions that enable children and families to build healthier futures,” Callahan said.
The initiative brings together FedEx employees and community partners through volunteerism and local action, focusing on essential needs affecting children and families.
The Clean Futures Alliance builds on the longstanding partnership between FedEx and Feed the Children and forms part of their broader efforts to improve access to essential resources and strengthen healthier, more resilient communities.
The Kajiado initiative highlights the importance of WASH interventions in schools, where improved hygiene knowledge and access to basic hygiene supplies can contribute to healthier learning environments and better outcomes for children.
