Uganda Airlines has received landing rights at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport located in southern China.
The public relations manager of Uganda Airlines, Shakira Rahim says this is the first-ever direct flight from Uganda to China in the post-COVID-19 era.
“Currently, there is no direct flight from Entebbe to China, which brings an amazing opportunity to tap into this gap. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were more than 25,000 passengers from China to Uganda, according to 2019 travel data,” Rahim said.

The airline’s fleet consists of six jets. Founded in 2018 as a scheduled carrier, Uganda Airlines serves nine countries, 12 destinations, and 13 routes.
On January 2022 Uganda Airlines was awarded the Ch-Aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet 2022 for the second time in a row,with an average aircraft age of 1.95 years.
The ch-aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award was conceived to honour Airlines and Aircraft Leasing companies worldwide who maintain young and efficient aircraft.Keeping a modern fleet and portfolio by using new generations of aircraft contributes significantly to the decrease of CO2 within the aviation industry and helps achieve better fuel efficiency to determine which airlines currently operate and which lessors manage the youngest aircraft fleet, ch-aviation maintains an extensive aircraft fleet database consisting of more than 4,700 active airlines, more than 65,000 aircraft, and 1,000 lessors worldwide.
