RwandAir has officially relaunched its direct services to Mombasa after a six-year pause. This milestone underlines our region’s growing appeal and the strength of East African connectivity at Moi International Airport (MIA)–Mombasa County.
The colourful reception was led by KAA Chairman, Hon. Caleb Kositany, who welcomed the carrier’s return as a clear vote of confidence in MIA’s capability and in Kenya’s broader aviation network. In his remarks, the Chairman said:

“RwandAir’s return is not just about an additional route, it is a reaffirmation of partnership, shared vision and opportunity.

The ceremony was honoured by senior government and diplomatic representation, including H.E. Ernest Rwamucyo, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, who noted the importance of strengthened air links in deepening bilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties.

We also received a warm diplomatic presence from H.E. Janet Mwawasi Oben, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, underscoring the mutual benefits of enhanced connectivity for commerce and tourism.

From RwandAir, Chief Commercial Officer Fouad Caunhye joined the celebrations and reiterated the airline’s commitment to growing convenient, reliable services for travellers between our two countries.
Also present were KAA Regional Airport Manager, Coast Region, Mr. Abel Gogo, airport stakeholders and partners, all united in welcoming RwandAir back to Mombasa and in pledging continued collaboration to improve passenger experience and route development.

RwandAir’s comeback restores vital connectivity and signals renewed opportunity for passengers, tourism operators and businesses across the Coast and beyond.
