
Maxwell Wahome,The outgoing Longhorn Publishers PLC CEO
The Board of Directors of Longhorn Publishers PLC announces that Mr. Maxwell Wahome will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer, effective 30th September 2025.
We sincerely appreciate Mr. Wahome’s nine years of dedicated service and visionary leadership, which have been instrumental in expanding Longhorn’s footprint across West and Central Africa, driving digital innovation, and steering the CBC curriculum transition.
His efforts have strengthened Longhorn’s market position and laid a strong foundation for future success.
To ensure continuity, the Board has appointed Mr. Simon Ngigi as Acting CEO. With over 20 years of strategic leadership and prior experience as Longhorn’s CEO (2015–2018), Mr. Ngigi is well-positioned to lead the Group into its next phase of growth and innovation.
We extend our gratitude to Mr. Wahome and warmly welcome Mr. Ngigi back to the helm of leadership.
In August 2022 Longhorn Publishers PLC expanded to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), seeking to tap the country’s vast market of 20 million learners, as well as boost shareholder returns.
Longhorn Publishers Plc is a Pan-African publishing house that is listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), with LawAfrica Publishing(K) Limited as one of its major subsidiaries.
It already has a presence in Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania with footprints in Malawi, Cameroon, Zambia, Senegal, Namibia, and Senegal through distributorships.
Longhorn recorded a net profit of KSh15 million in the year ended December 2021, reversing a net loss of KSh145.3 million a year earlier.
Its reported that the improved earnings were driven by higher sales which more than tripled to KSh960.9 million amid increased purchase of books and other learning materials.
