
KCB Foundation has celebrated the graduation of 1,844 youth from the 2Jiajiri Programme, marking a major step in skilling Kenya’s future workforce.
The youth who went through learning across 14 Technical and Vocational Education Training institutions within Nairobi County were supported under the 2Jiajiri partnership with Mastercard Foundation ’s Young Africa Works programme.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at the University of Nairobi, KCB Bank Kenya Managing Director, Annastacia Kimtai, said: “Building Kenya’s future requires more than technical skills.
It requires resilience in the face of challenges, a commitment to upholding the values that define us, and a willingness to collaborate for the greater good.”
On her part, KCB Foundation Director, Mendi Njonjo, said,
“We are not just certifying individuals, we are sending out entrepreneurs,skilled artisans, and community builders who will contribute meaningfully to Kenya’s development agenda.”
KCB has disbursed KShs.1.7 billion in business startup loans and 2,225 startup toolkits were issued to enable the youth to deliver high-quality work across their respective trades.
The 2Jiajiri Inititive is mainly derived from the the beneficiaries will are selected from KCB’s flagship program, as well as those who have cleared high school within its education program and MSMEs.
The youth will be trained in technology-related skills and automation by utilizing AI for skills development, through digital transformation of their businesses, improving performance, and setting up enterprises within the technology sector.
The partnership is in line with KCB Foundation’s 2Jiajiri program which is focused on empowering the youth through the provision of technical skills and business development support to enable them to set up successful enterprises.
