Flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has partnered with emaratech, a leading technology organization in the UAE, to implement smart biometric gates for its pilots and cabin crew.
This initiative aligns with flydubai’s ongoing commitment to innovation and investment in cutting-edge technologies.
The new smart gates, which utilize advanced biometric technology, are located at the carrier’s Airport Operations Centre.
They incorporate AI-driven verification and real-time data integration to streamline immigration processes, providing a faster and more efficient experience for flight operations.
This enhancement supports flydubai’s dedication to operational efficiency, particularly during peak travel periods.

Thani Alzaffin, Group Chief Executive Officer of emaratech, stated that the integration of AI-powered facial recognition technology allows their smart gates to seamlessly connect with both flydubai’s and immigration’s platforms, enabling real-time validation and a truly frictionless journey.
“We are proud to partner with flydubai in pioneering a next-generation, paperless immigration experience for their crew members,” Alzaffin said, adding that this initiative reflects emaratech’s commitment to redefining border control processes, making them smarter, faster, and more secure.
He further expressed anticipation for deepening their collaboration with flydubai on future initiatives to enhance the travel experience for both passengers and crew.
Mohammed Hareb AlMheiri, Chief Procurement and Technology Officer at flydubai, commented on the partnership, stating, “We always look for opportunities to harness the latest technologies that support our growth and operational efficiencies.”
He emphasized that the introduction of these biometric smart gates marks another step towards fostering a more seamless, punctual, and secure operation as they future-proof their systems.
The carrier boasts a growing network of over 135 destinations served by a modern fleet of 89 aircraft and employs a workforce of more than 6,400 individuals, including over 1,300 pilots and 2,500 cabin crew.
