Flydubai has launched a new direct service from Dubai to Nairobi, operating four times weekly, and increased its Mombasa route to daily flights.
The carrier’s expansion brings flydubai’s total weekly services to Kenya to 11, reinforcing air links between the UAE and Kenya.
The Nairobi service debuted this evening during a colourful reception ceremony held at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The added capacity is expected to boost tourism, business travel and air cargo flows, supporting Kenya’s economic recovery and trade ties with the Gulf.
Flydubai’s move follows a wave of new connections to JKIA in 2025, with Gulf Air, Flightlink, SalamAir, TAAG-Linhas Aereas de Angola and flynas also launching services this year.
With Flydubai becoming the sixth carrier to increase its Kenyan presence, the market is signaling strong confidence in Kenya’s growth potential.
Kenya Airports Authority(KAA) representatives at the launch included Operations and Safety General Manager Dr. Simon Peter Njoroge, M.B.A, Ph.D. and Marketing and Business Development General Manager Mr. Abraham Kipruto, highlighting the strategic importance of the new route for Kenya’s aviation sector.
Strategically, the expanded schedule aligns with Kenya’s national objectives to deepen global connectivity, attract investment and strengthen its role as an East African hub for trade and tourism.
Flydubai’s increased frequencies will offer travellers greater choice and frequency while helping to drive job creation, tourism receipts and broader economic benefits.
