G42, an Abu Dhabi-based technology group, and Paris-based Mistral AI have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop cutting-edge AI platforms and infrastructure.
Revealed during the Choose France summit, the agreement aligns with AI cooperation initiatives supported by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron in February 2025.
The collaboration integrates G42’s AI capabilities, through subsidiaries like Core42 for infrastructure and Inception for platform solutions, with Mistral AI’s expertise in open-weight large language models. The partnership focuses on combining Mistral AI’s platform with G42’s AI stack, prioritizing technical autonomy and intellectual property governance to enable scalable, innovative solutions.
“This partnership redefines AI development by balancing sovereignty, interoperability, and accountability,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42. “With Mistral AI, we’re building a trusted framework for global AI progress.”
The agreement spans AI model training, infrastructure development, and industry-specific applications targeting markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South. Both companies aim to expand their offerings into new and existing markets collaboratively.
Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, said, “G42 shares our vision for accessible AI. This alliance accelerates our mission and extends AI’s reach beyond traditional tech hubs.”
The partnership may also include collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi to advance research in foundational AI models, talent development, and real-world AI applications. “We look forward to working with G42 and Mistral AI to drive innovation in AI efficiency and safety,” said Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI.
