Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr.Musalia Mudavadi was this evening feted with honorary ODM Certificate at a colourful ODM founders dinner held in Mombasa.
Dr. Mudavadi was among hundreds who gathered to celebrate 20 years of ODM, and a reunion of the founding members of the Orange Democratic Movement, in a glamorous evening that rekindled the spirit and solidarity of the Chungwa family.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, said they used the moments in Mombasa to reflected on the ODM journey from the 2005 referendum campaigns to the emergence of a movement that has shaped Kenya’s politics for two decades in a meeting attended by H.E. Dr. William Ruto.
“The absence of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga was deeply felt, reminding us of a leader whose courage, sacrifice, and unwavering patriotism steadied our nation through defining moments,” said Mudavadi.
PCS reflected on Raila’s selflessness, recalling how he consistently chose Kenya first.
“During the constitution-making process, he stepped back from the push for a parliamentary system but firmly safeguarded the inclusion of devolution, a choice that transformed our governance structure,” said Dr. Mudavadi.
PCS said Raila in his quest for power respected constitutionalism always wanting to ensure that any political decisions were an grounded on the constitution.
“When we first the Koffi An talks, Raila ensured that it went through parliament where he entered that it was adopted by the House so that it would have legal backing,” said Dr. Mudavadi.
He commended ODM’s leadership for nurturing a party that has endured where many others have faded.
With ODM now in its maturity stage, he encouraged the leadership to champion pro-people programmes, advance progressive policies, and strengthen unity through constant consultation.
“The Orange spirit remains vibrant, and the journey ahead is filled with promise,” said Mudavadi.
The meeting brought together former ODM founders, and it’s current active elected leaders.
During the event, the party gave Dr. Mudavadi, alongside President Ruto, and former Minister Henry Kosgey honorary certificate for their founding role of the party.
